HAS GOD DESERTED US?

God's Prayer Power - Session 9

Our verse today is: Jeremiah 8:19

"Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the Lord in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities?"

What is meant by the word Behold? It is saying listen.

Listen to what? The voice. The cry of God's people.

Where are the people dwelling?  A far country.

What question are the people asking?  They want to know where God is.

What next do they ask? They want to know if He has deserted them.

What does the Lord answer with? Why have my people provoked me to anger with their graven images (idols) and with strange vanities (evil rites)?

What three words or thoughts reach out to you? To me they were:

Crying - In distress

Help - Unable to withstand

God - Encompassing

Crying:

In Psalm 34:17 it says, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; . . ."

The people are in a far country, and they are crying because they feel like God is not there with them.

Help:

Psalm 46:1 says, "God is our protection and source of strength. He is always ready to help us in times of trouble."

The people know they are not able to withstand all the things happening to them but they know God can help them and protect them. So they are wondering where He is. They feel He may have deserted them.

God:

God truly can and will help His people. But these people have not been true to God in their actions and behaviors. They have strayed and become worldly and taken up with idols and evil doings. Yet even so, they are expecting God to save them.

If you look and it carefully, you wonder why the people did not realize that God had not deserted them, but they deserted God? Why did they go off and choose to worship idols, knowing it was wrong. Why did they permit themselves to act in sinful and evil ways? If they would but repent and turn to God, that is all it would take and follow after Him.

When you get off on the wrong track, do you recognize it? If so, do you immediately, repent and turn to God asking for forgiveness and turning back to Him or do you continue down that path?

 Prayer :

Bring us oh Lord back to

 Recognizing shameful

Circumstances.

Allow us to blush and be

 Aware of what is

Spiritually right and what is

Spiritually wrong.

Help us to turn away from the

Daily cultural pleasure-

Centered values. Move in our

Church, don’t let it mirror worldly

Values or cultural values. Help our

Chuch’s to encourage believers to

Live scripturally. We ask you to

Restore our morality and Christian

Standards in our society.

GOD GIVES INSTRUCTION TO WOMEN

God's Prayer Power - Session 8

Our verse today is Titus 2:3-5

"The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

Paul, in this chapter, is talking to Titus, telling him he is to teach the people that they should always be prepared for Jesus' coming because Jesus gave His life to redeem the sinner.

He gives him instruction for the older men in the second verse, and in the third verse through the fifth he gives instructiions for the women; the seventh and eighth verses he gives instructions for the young men. But for today's session we will talk about the instructions for the older women and the younger women.

What three words reach out to you? For me the words behavior, teach and honor God.

Behavior - How to Act

Teach - Instruct

Honor God - Reverent

Behavior:

Galatians 5:22-23:says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law".  God wants us to become more Christ like.

Teach:

God throughout the Bible is teaching us, instructing us. He teaches us truth, gives us the information we need to live right, corrects our ways and shows us our errors.
2 Timorhy 3:16 says,."All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness".

Honor God:

We are to regard God with honor, admiration and respect for who He is and for all He has done for us. Psalm 29:2 says, "Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."

Prayer:

Help us, we, the older women

To be reverent in the way we

live. To not be slanderous

or addicted to too much wine.

Teach us what is good so we

May teach the young ones what

Is good in thy sight.

Help us to teach the young women

to love their husbands and children; to be

Self-controlled and pure, to be busy

At home, be kind, so that no one will

Malign the word of God. Amen

This week let us spend time reading Titus 2:3-5 to learn more of what Paul is telling Titus.

May God bless you and your family this week.

GOD SPEAKS OF GREED AND SELFISHNESS

God's Prayer Power - Session 7

Most people do not like to talk about what God says will happen if we pursue greed and selfishness. They would rather talk about things that are easy to hear, such as how much He loves us. And He does love us. But they don't want to get in to the deeper things that have consequences. Yet, we must. We do not want to be ignorant of God's words and plans.

God tells us in Isaiah 5:8-30 what will come about. In reading these verses these three words caught my eye and I felt a leading to dig deeper into their meaning.

The Three Words

After reading Isaiah 5:8-30 you may have other words that caught your attention. If so, you will want to determine their meaning to you.

Greed - a desire for more and more

Selfishness - focused only on self

Consequences - outcome

I found these words to be appropriate for that scripture. In discovering  the meanings of these words I think you will agree.

Greed:

Yes greed. It isn't just a desire to have more things - power and money - but also to have what others have. You will find greedy people rarely are concerned about the feelings of others. The question greedy people want to know is why they can't have anything they want. It doesn't matter that you have it, they want it and that should settle it. 1 Timothy 6:10 says, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs".

Selfishness:

A selfish person is only interested in their wants, their desires in life and do not think about other people. They are focused on themselves only and what will bring them pleasure, and they do not have any desire to share. Philippians 2:4 says, "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interest of others".

Consequences:

The outcome of your actions. Drive recklessly, and the consequence may be an accident which as we know accidents can be serious even to the losing of life. There are always consequences. There are good and bad consequences, and the consequence depends on the action. Galations 6:7 says, "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap".  We are accountable for our actions.

In life we all have many decisions to make each day as to how we will live our lives that day. Let us pray this prayer asking God to help us.

Prayer:

Help us in our families, church’s,

cities, state and country to

treat others as you have called us.

Help us to treat each other fairly,

With fundamental respect,

To recognize that each person’s

life, possessions, reputations

and marriages are not to be

violated.

This week, let us spend time reading Isaiah 5:8-30 asking God to give us a revelation knowledge concering these scriptures and how we can apply His teaching to our lives.

We are His children. Let us come to know our Father in Heaven better.

God bless each and everyone of you this week!

GOD IS FOR US

God's Prayer Power - Session 6

God is truly for us and wants us to know as his children we have his promises. He chose us to be His and since we accepted His son, Jesus Christ as our Savior, we belong to God. He is our Father. Nothing can separate us from God. We have been adopted into His family. In Romans 8 Paul is encouraging believers and wants us to understand God is working to complete a plan that He is working in us. Ephesians 1:4 says, "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." Each day take heart to know that God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, is for us, and is our Father.

Our verse today is Romans 8:31

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

How do we know God is for us?

Because God sent His only Son to take our place on the cross and die for us, so He could redeem us from the sin that separated us from Him. Now nothing separates us from God. We are born again, children of God because we have accepted Christ as our Savior and received Him into our hearts.

What three words or phrases reach out to you? For me they are:

God - Almighty

For Us - committed to us.

Against Us - The enemy, Satan.

God:

God is everything. He is Almighty God, maker of heaven and earth. . . Psalm 121:2. The  Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. . . Psalm 121: 5.  And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy . . .Leviticus 20:26

All things to us who are His.Take time to reflect as you read your Bible who God is. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you.

For Us:

One of the most comforting and words of assurance I know, is that God is for us. To think we His children would have to walk and live on earth without Him is unthinkable to me as I am sure it is to you too. Knowing He will be with us, provide for us, protect us, teach us, comfort us and walk beside us is glorious.

Against Us

What power is stronger than God? In Romans 8:38-39 His word says, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Prayer:

Father, help us not to be arrogant, haughty or proud.

 Cleanse us of our selfishness.

Cleanse us of our self-pity.

Cleanse us of our self-centeredness.

Create in us a clean heart.

Your word says You are for us.

Help us build a relationship with You.

Amen

This week, let us spend time reading Romans 8 and learning of all the ways God is with us.

We are His children. Let us come to know our Father in Heaven better.

God bless each and everyone of you this week!
