God's Prayer Power - Session 4
Please know that God wants to give you revelation knowledge about His words so you can come to know Him better each day. Before beginning today’s session, pray, asking God to prepare your heart to see and understand His words.
Our reading today comes from Isaiah 36:16
“Hearken not to Hezekiah:
for thus saith the king of Assyria, make an agreement with me by a present, and
come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig trees,
and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;”
1. Deception - Fraud
2. Fear - Loss of courage, dread
3. Lies - Falsehood
This is taking place
during the fourteenth year that Hezekiah was king. The king of Assyria having
defeated Judah’s strong walled cities was now after Hezekiah and his kingdom.
He sent his field commander to tell Hezekiah’s three representatives, that Hezekiah
could not depend on His God to rescue him and his kingdom and people. He said
it loud so Hezekiah’s people would hear. He told in a loud voice of all the
wonderous things they would receive if they surrendered. And wanted Hezekiah to
know of this too. This way he could capture the city and all within. He was
willing to say anything to get them to do what he wanted them to do.
Many times, throughout history, countries who were going to attack other countries lied promising to give wonderful things including allowing them to live, if only they would surrender.
Even in our lives, we have
experienced people telling us what wonderful things we will get if we will but
do what they want.
We must be alert to God’s
words and seek discernment to determine what is true and what is a lie so we
will not be fooled by those who are wanting to lead us astray.
Our prayer today is:
Let us not be fooled by what this world offers, but depend on God to
provide and to be our source. God help us to trust in You,
to be good warriors for You, and to fight the good fight of faith.
Help us to not put our trust in the world, or in man, but only in You.
Show us how to be pleasing to You. Amen
